Fifty years ago, this Syracuse, New York museum cut the ribbon on an incredible new building designed by one of the most famous architects in the world, I M Pei. It was the first time he had designed a museum. A museum that was also a first itself, the first dedicated to American art. So when it recently came time to raise money for improvements, we incorporated these firsts in our theme, First and Forever. Because a landmark this important should last forever.
